Who lives in Monaco, and how its institutions, foundations, and ceremonies work.
The seabed gets a permanent address
More than 70 percent of the ocean floor is still unmapped to modern standards. The programme charged with completing the map, begun on a Monegasque initiative in 1903, now has a permanent secretariat in the principality, inaugurated by Prince Albert II and funded by Monaco for its first three years.
Fifty thousand pounds at a time: the ocean incubator reopens
The Commonwealth Blue Charter Incubator, backed by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, has opened its second funding round: grants of up to 50,000 pounds for between ten and fifteen country-led ocean projects, with applications closing on December 11.
Monaco opens the cybercrime table
The Octopus Conference opens in Strasbourg today under Monaco's Council of Europe presidency: some 500 experts, 25 years of the Budapest Convention, and a Monegasque justice secretary sharing the opening with the Secretary General.
The twenty-sixth Assises
From October 7 to 10, the Grimaldi Forum hosts the 26th edition of Les Assises de la Cybersécurité, the gathering of France's cybersecurity leadership. A quarter of a century after the first edition, the convention has become part of how Monaco presents itself: a small state that treats digital defence as statecraft.
The gala that runs like a business
Tonight the Hôtel de Paris hosts the eleventh Monaco edition of the Butterfly Ball, the charity gala for disabled and neurodivergent children. Behind the glamour is a deliberate machine: philanthropy engineered with the discipline of a company.
The square goes pink
On the evening of October 3, Princess Charlène lit Casino Square pink to open Pink Ribbon Monaco's sixteenth annual campaign. For the rest of the month, 24 institutions across the principality will glow in the same colour.
Twenty years of the planet as statecraft
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation marked its twentieth anniversary with a gala in September 2026. Two decades on, the foundation has become one of the principality's most effective instruments of influence.
Thirty-eight thousand residents, one hundred and forty-four nationalities
The 2025 census counted 38,857 residents in the principality, drawn from 144 nationalities. The numbers describe the most international two square kilometres in Europe, and a population still growing.
