Culture
Exhibitions, performance, heritage: the institutions and rituals that make Monaco's cultural life.
The names, at last: Pennac, Nussbaum and the class of 2026
Two days of ceremony closed the Prince Pierre Foundation's 2026 edition: a proclamation at the Opéra Garnier on Tuesday evening, then, as Histoires Royales reported, the prizes themselves at the Prince's Palace on Wednesday. The laureates join lifetime honours with first novels chosen by Monaco's own school pupils.
Tonight, the names are read out
At 8 pm in the Salle Garnier, the Fondation Prince Pierre announces its 2026 laureates: three literary distinctions, two musical ones, and the Principality Prize. The choices are made. Until tonight, they belong to the councils.
The automobile as Monaco's national self-portrait
The Grimaldi Forum's summer exhibition gathered some fifty vehicles to tell the story of the car in the principality, from 1893 to today. It was less an exhibition than an autobiography.
Monaco's other palace
On the Rock, facing the sea, stands a second palace: the Oceanographic Museum, founded by a prince-explorer and run for three decades by Cousteau. It may be the principality's most consequential building.
